Women’s Golf Finishes 13th at UCF Challenge

Emily Goldenstein is the team's highest finisher at the spring opener.
MEMPHIS – Six teams in the top 41 of the latest Golfstat team rankings took the top six spots of the UCF Challenge at Eagle Creek Golf Club, Tuesday. Miami edged East Carolina by four strokes for the tournament victory, with individual medalist and runner up honors going to the Hurricane. Memphis carded a 312 on Tuesday afternoon, finishing tied for 13th with a 54-hole score of 906 for the event.
Senior Emily Goldenstein was the Lady Tigers' highest finishing golfer, carding a 77 to finish at 223 and in a tie for 29th overall. Sydney Colwill finished tied for 44th after a third round 78 pushed her to 225 for the event. Michaela Fletcher also carded a 78 on Tuesday, finishing at 228. Abby Herrmann rounded out the team scorers with a 79 on Tuesday for a 233.
Miami claimed the top two spots in the individual standings. After carding the low round of the event yesterday (66), Dewi Weber won the event with a 209 (-7) while teammate Renate Grimstad was six strokes back for a second place finish at 215 (-1). Miami, ranked 41st heading in to this week's event, grabbed a four stroke win with an 868 over number 38 ranked East Carolina. ECU's 283 was the low team round of the event and allowed the Pirates to finish at five under for the event.
Memphis will be back in Florida in Melbourne in less than two weeks, competing at the Moon Invitational, hosted by the University of Louisville, Feb. 19-20th.
