Trio of Tigers earn All-Conference Honors

Zalzman and Roberts named to First-Team, Sangha to All-Rookie squad
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – David Zalzman and Ben Roberts were once again named All-Conference performers, this year earning First-Team honors. Gurman Sangha was also an All-Rookie selection for the Tigers.
Zalzman earned All-Conference First Team after captaining a midfield on both offense and defense. Offensively, Zalzman scored three goals, two of them earning the Tigers draws. On the other side of the ball, the Maracay, Venezuela native helped secure six shutouts on the season, including two in conference play. The honor is Zalzman's second All-Conference bid, having been named to the second team last season.
Roberts also was added to the All-Conference First Team after anchoring a defense that shutout six opponents. Playing the third most minutes on the team, Roberts routinely directed the Memphis defense from the back line while also covering attackers. Roberts also found himself on the scoring side of the pitch, notching the game-winner against Lipscomb. The junior defender now has two All-Conference awards in as many years as a Tiger.
"I'm really happy for Ben and David, they worked hard this year being team leaders," Head coach Richard Mulrooney said. "For them to be recognized is nice, and doubly so because they represent our team, so having two on the first team is nice."
Freshman midfielder Sangha was named to the All-Rookie team for his role as an offensive weapon. Sangha was largely responsible for driving deep into the corners and serving the forwards with carefully placed crosses. Sangha earned his first collegiate point after delivering the assist on the game-winner against Fairleigh Dickinson. The Coquitlam, British Columbia native scored his first goal against Tulsa, a golden goal in the second minute of overtime.
"Gurman's come in and really added a spark to our team this year," Mulrooney said about Sangha. "Knowing that he's worked this hard and he's just a freshman, he's only going to get better as time goes on. He's very deserving of this award, I'm very happy for him."
