Clarissa Larisey Tallies third goal of the season
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Memphis women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 setback Thursday evening to USF in the first of two matches in Florida this weekend. Memphis falls to 7-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in American Athletic Conference play.
Â
USF capitalized early on the Tigers with a goal in the fourth minute and then again on a successful penalty kick in the 32nd minute.

Even though the Tigers created multiple opportunities in the first half, Memphis came out with a strong sense of urgency out of the break. Ten minutes into the second half, Clarissa Larisey cut the USF lead in half with her third goal of the season. Elizabeth Woerner was credited with the assist on Larisey's goal.
Â
Despite the opportunities and increased shots by the Tigers, the Bulls added another goal in the 79th minute.
Â
Memphis finished the match outshooting the Bulls, 15-12 and goalkeeper Rachel Ashworth Shepard ended with four saves.
Â
The Tigers will continue play in Florida with a match against No. 13 UCF Sunday afternoon. Kick-off against the Knights is set for 12 p.m. CT. For more information on the Memphis women's soccer team, follow the Tigers on Facebook at /MemphisWSoccer and on Twitter and Instagram at @MemphisWSoccer.
