Elizabeth Woerner and Marie Levasseur named First-Team All-Conference
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's soccer team has landed six players on the AAC All-Conference teams as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning. Elizabeth Woerner and Marie Levasseur were named to the first-team, Olivia Gauthier and Jessica Lisi were named to the second-team and Clarissa Larisey and Elizabeth Moberg were coined to the All-Rookie Team.
In addition to the all-conference release, it was announced by the AAC that the women's soccer program once again earned the Team Academic Excellence Award for the highest cumulative grade-point average.
The Tigers finished the regular season with a 10-5-3 overall record and 4-2-3 mark in conference play. Memphis ultimately earned the No. 4 seed in the American Athletic Conference Tournament which begins play Wednesday in Orlando, Fla.
This is the second-straight First-Team All-Conference recognition for Levasseur and the first-ever AAC nod for Woerner. This is the third-time Gauthier has been recognized by the AAC after earning a Second-Team All-AAC selection in 2016 and an All-Rookie Team pick in 2015. Lisi was named to the All-Rookie Team last year.
Woerner led the Tigers this season with 10 goals and two assists for 22 points. Her 10 goals are a career-high and her 2017 goal total surpassed the total of her first two seasons combined. She also finished the regular season ranked second in the conference in goals scored. She started in every match for the Tigers and finished with three game-winning goals.
Levasseur also started in all 18 matches for Memphis and scored a career-high seven goals and tallied a career-high eight assists. She finished third on the team in goals and first in the conference in total assists.
Gauthier, another 18-match starter for the Tigers, anchored the Memphis backline and helped contribute to eight shutouts this season. She also registered two assists and three shots.
Lisi finished the regular season with five goals and five assists for Memphis. She was responsible for three game-winning goals and was a perfect 1-for-1 in penalty kick conversions. In 18 matches played for the Tigers, Lisi started in 17 of them.
With three goals scored during her freshman campaign, Larisey has already started to make an impact with her speed on the Tigers frontline. Larisey played in all 18 matches and started in six of them for Memphis.
Moberg also has made an immediate impact for the Tigers as she has started in the last six contests to end the conference schedule. In just under 580 total minutes, Moberg has recorded 29 saves and owns a 1.09 goals against average. She's allowed just seven goals and has a 3-1-2 overall record with four shutouts.
Memphis' six all-conference selections was the second-most in the conference behind regular season champion UCF.
