Men’s Tennis Posts a Pair of Sweeps Friday

Tigers do not drop a set in a pair of sweeps.
MEMPHIS – Junior Louis Asser came back from 2-0 down in a second set tiebreak for a 6-1, 7-6 (2) win complete a pair of 7-0 wins for the Memphis men's tennis team (3-2), Friday.
The Tigers opened the afternoon with a 7-0 win over Chattanooga (0-2). Memphis grabbed 6-2 wins at one and two singles to take the doubles point, then used wins at the top three singles spots to decide the victory. Memphis closed out the sweep with Felix Rauch's 6-1, 6-2 win at number six.
In the evening match, the Tigers again got wins from one and two doubles to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman Chris Patzanovsky was the first Tiger to complete his singles match, pushing the team score to 2-0. Rauch's win at No. 5 singles made it 3-0 Tigers and Andrew Watson sealed the win over Murray State (0-1) with a straight set win at number two.
Memphis travels to Nashville next week to play a pair of non-conference matches. The Tigers will face #28 ranked Vanderbilt, Thursday, at 5 p.m., then will square off against #33 Harvard, Friday, at 5 p.m.
