MEMPHIS - -

Freshman women's golfer Michaela Fletcher was named an American Athletic Conference All-Conference, Friday, in a poll of the league's coaches. Fletcher becomes the second Memphis freshman in as many years to earn all-conference honors, following in the footsteps of Leighann Cabush from 2014.
Fletcher has not yet completed her freshman campaign. She became the first Lady Tiger golfer since 1996 to qualify for the NCAA Regional with her individual selection earlier this week. She will be just the fourth player in school history and the second freshman to earn an individual NCAA regional slot.
A native of South Africa, Fletcher qualified for nine tournaments for the Lady Tigers this season, missing the team's home event while she was representing South Africa at the World Amateur Team Championships in Japan in early September.
When she returned to the team, she posted four top five finishes, including back-to-back runner-up finishes in fall tournaments at Louisville and Cincinnati. On the year, she posted seven top 20 finishes and six top 10s. Her 73.9 stroke average in competition ties for the school single season record, a mark she is currently sharing with LPGA tour member Marissa Steen (2010-11).
Fletcher will compete in the South Bend Regional, May 7-9, in Indiana at Notre Dame. She is one of six individuals who will join 18 teams at the regional. The low six teams and the low three individuals advance from the Regional to the NCAA finals at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida, May 22-27th.
