Memphis Finishes 13th at Auburn Tournament

Memphis closed out play at Auburn's Tiger Invitational Presented with a final-round 303 to finish the second tournament of the spring in 13th place.
Memphis was 12th after Round One and moved up to 11th after 36 holes before Tuesday's 303 to finish with a three-round score of 904 (+40).
Host and No. 14 Auburn was 12-under par for Tuesday's final round to finish the tournament with a three-round score of 839 (-25) and finished 28 strokes ahead of Troy, which is ranked No. 50.
Auburn's Michael Johnson, ranked No. 97 nationally, shot a two-under par 70 on Tuesday to finish with a three-round 208 (-8) and won the tournament's individual title by one stroke over Georgia State's J.J. Grey. The balance of Auburn's five-man team finished third through sixth individually.
Memphis' top individual finisher was Cory Gaylord, who birdied his final hole of the tournament, to finish even par for the day and card a three-round 222 (+6) and tie for 33rd overall. Gaylord came back from an opening-round 80 to fire a 69 on Monday before wrapping up the tournament with an even-par round on Grand National's Lake Course in Opelika, Ala.
Auburn's Tiger Invitational was the beginning of a busy month for the Memphis golf team which next travels to Palm City, Fla., for the Valspar Collegiate Invitational. The March 23-24 tournament will be played at the Tom Fazio-designed Floridian National Golf Club.
Following the Valspar Collegiate, Memphis travels to the UALR First Tee Classic March 30-31 in Little Rock, Ark.
