Sophomore wins his way to the qualifying round.

TULSA – Sophomore Andrew Watson made it to the final round of the ITA Qualifying draw, but could not get past TCU's Trevor Johnson, falling 6-2, 6-1 in the qualifying round Wednesday morning.

The loss ends Watson's singles run at the All-American and means the Tigers can turn toward preparation for the next event on the ITA fall calendar, the regional championships. Memphis will compete in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, Oct. 15-19^th at the University of Tennessee. Watson is the defending singles champion in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, becoming the first-ever Tiger to win an ITA singles title last season as a freshman. Memphis has won back-to-back titles at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, as former Tigers David O'Hare and Joe Salisbury won the doubles title at the event in the fall of 2013.
