On July 1, the University of Memphis officially became a member of the American Athletic Conference. Beginning July 8, GoTigersGo.com brings a daily introduction of each sport at the University of Memphis to the American Athletic Conference. | In 2005, Beth Tidmore won the University's first and only national championship, claiming the national Air Rifle crown. One of the most decorated student-athletes in school history, Tidmore was a three-time NRA All-American, 2005 Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association Scholar Athlete award winner and she earned a 2007 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. | |||||||

| In Memphis' first year of NCAA competition in 1993, head coach Butch Woolbright was named Great Midwest Conference Coach of the Year. Woolbright then earned Conference USA Coach of the Year honors in 1998 when his Tigers won the C-USA Championship. Woolbright is the longest tenured head coach at the University of Memphis. | ||||

| Although the University of Memphis joined the American Athletic Conference, the Tiger rifle program continues to compete in the Great America Rifle Conference (GARC). Memphis also competed in the Great Midwest Conference and Conference USA before joining the GARC for rifle. | ||||

| The Memphis rifle program has produced 10 All-Americans since 2003 including four first-team selections, five second-team choices and one honorable mention pick. Beth Tidmore was a three-time selection in air-rifle while current Tiger shooter, Dan Hermsmeier, has recently earned his third and fourth All-America honors. Hermsmeier was a second-team smallbore selection in 2011, a first-team smallbore selection in 2012 and most recently earned first-team accolades in smallbore and air rifle for the 2012-13 season. | ||||
