Women's Basketball 2012 Recruiting Class Ranked 39th in Nation

With five freshmen and one junior college transfer, the University of Memphis women's basketball recruiting class for the 2012-2013 season is ranked the No. 39 recruiting class in the country in ESPN.com HoopGurlz's final rankings.
The Tigers' class is the top-ranked recruiting class in Conference USA. The same class ranks fifth among the schools that will make up the BIG EAST in 2013-2014.
The Tigers signed five prep players in the early signing period, including four-star signees Mooriah Rowser and Jaymie Jackson, three-star players Courtney Powell and Asianna Fuqua-Bey and local product Ariel Hearn. Not included in the rankings is the addition of junior college transfer Devin Mack and four-year college transfer Jamila Ajanaku.
Memphis opens its 2012-13 regular season on Nov. 9th against Grambling State in the Preseason WNIT. That match-up features two of the top-50 ranked recruiting classes in the country, as Grambling State's class is ranked 44th in the same HoopGurlz rankings.
The Tigers add the new class of players to a returning core of six players, including second team All-C-USA honoree Nicole Dickson, starting point guard Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir, junior K.K. Harvey and all of last year's freshman class: Ann Jones, Lauren McGraw and Jailyn Norris.
Memphis is also awaiting an NCAA appeal on behalf of incoming senior guard Jamila "Mimi" Ajanku, who transferred to her hometown team from Middle Tennessee this summer.
