MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Mark Sherrod has been named a 2011 NSCAA All-America Third Team selection as announced Friday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Sherrod joins Hall-of-Fame member Dayton O'Brien as the only men's soccer players to earn All-America honors.
The accolades have poured in for Sherrod after his sensational sophomore season. Sherrod was named Conference USA Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and All-Conference First Team. On two separate occasions, he earned national player of the week accolades by multiple publications, while also being listed on several national teams of the week.
Not only is Sherrod a standout on the pitch, but the Knoxville, Tenn., native is a star in the classroom as well. He was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team and C-USA All-Academic Team.
