Women's Basketball Player Appears in SLAM Magazine

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - - Freshman guard Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir is featured in the July edition of SLAM Magazine. The Springfield, Mass., native broke the Massachusetts' girls all-time scoring record held by Rebecca Lobo earlier this spring, finishing with 3,061 points while playing for New Leadership Charter School. The incoming freshman was also named the Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year and started summer classes at Memphis earlier this month.

An intended pre-med major at Memphis, Abdul-Qaadir is one of eight newcomers signed for the upcoming 2009-2010 season. She will be joined by fellow freshmen Chatia Kelsey, Ashley Robinson, Nicole Dickson and redshirt freshman Christine Lesane.
