The University of Memphis women's golf team is set to compete this week at the Rebel Intercollegiate hosted by Ole Miss. Action gets underway tomorrow, April 3, at the par-72 6, 132 yard Country Club of Oxford.
The tournament has a field of 14 teams, including UAB, Arkansas State, Belmont, Jackson State, Kennesaw State, Memphis, Mississippi State, Missouri, Murray State, Oregon State, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Tulane, and Ole Miss.
"This is a very strong field," said Lady Tiger head coach Beth Harrelson. "We're excited to get things underway."
Freshman Kathleen Glavin looks to build on her career performance at the Lady Eagle Invitational last week. Glavin fired rounds of 79-76 to finish in 12th. Her final round 76 was the lowest of her career and led her to her first top-20.
"I expect Kathleen to build off her performance at Southern Miss," said Coach Harrelson. "She's still hitting it really well, and I think that performance really gave her some confidence."
Marissa Steen and Rachel Larson also look to rebound, after both narrowly missed finishing in the top-20 at the Lady Eagle Invitational.
"Marissa and Rachel are both hitting it well right now," said Coach Harrelson. "I think Rachel's been due for a great tournament this spring, and I think this could be the one."
The Lady Tigers tee off in the Rebel Intercollegiate tomorrow morning, April 3, at 7:45 a.m. Live scoring for the event will be available via www.golfstat.com.
