Journal Entry 5 - Wednesday, June 14
Sorry for the long break between entries, my home still has no internet so getting to the library for service seems to be a hassle these days.
Well the first team here in D.C. is in good form of late, having the best record in the league and unbeaten in our last six games. We had a tough three games in a seven-day stretch a couple weeks ago in which we went 3-0. Since our loss in Colorado, we have beaten Kansas City (twice), Columbus and New England, while tying the L.A. Galaxy and Columbus Crew. We just got back from L.A. yesterday after tying the Galaxy. We didn't play well but got out of there with a point.
The reserves have lost to Kansas City 2-0 and beaten New England 6-0, good for third place in the reserve division. I played 65 and 90 minutes in those games at right mid, left mid and forward. Also, the Richmond Kickers are in first place. I have played in about five or six games with them this year. I was there this past Saturday for the 2-0 win over Charlotte, who is in second place. I played attacking center mid for the first time ever, and after a bit, got comfortable in that position.
Last week was also the United For D.C. Celebrity Golf Tournament, played here at a local course. Local celebrities played as well as the majority of my teammates and I. In the event, a four-man scramble, my team came in a tie for third at -10. Even more surprising than the third place finish was that my team actually used a few of my shots. It had been about nine months since I last played golf, and I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. My group consisted of three men and a woman from United Bank, all of whom were very nice and friendly. Needless to say I enjoyed the event very much.
Other than soccer, I'm working on completing two classes this summer and one in the fall to hopefully graduate in December. School is tough to concentrate on, especially with the World Cup going on, but hopefully I can find a few spare minutes here and there to finish up my degree.
Well that's about everything from up here in D.C. I promise to update in a more timely fashion next time! Until then, have a great day and God Bless!
