MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Lady Tiger basketball fans have been hearing about Georgetown, Texas over the past four years, as it is the hometown of current Lady Tiger senior post player Megan Gooch. But even after Gooch's graduation following the 2006-07 season, Memphis fans will continue to hear about Georgetown, Texas, for another four years as Shae Seagraves, a 6-0 guard at Georgetown High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play college basketball at Memphis.
Seagraves will join the Lady Tigers in 2007-08, but she already has a lot of experience in college gyms, as her mom, Ronda, coached basketball at the collegiate level while Shae was growing up.
"Shae has grown up in the gym and been in the basketball culture her entire childhood, and it definitely shows in her game," head coach Blair Savage said. "She has great basketball knowledge and her ability to play at the three spot and shoot the three will add another dimension to the line-up for us. We're really excited to add someone with her basketball knowledge and fundamental skills."
Seagraves is the No. 69 ranked senior in the state of Texas according to Gordon Louck of TexasGirlsBasketball.com, and helped her Georgetown team to the Class 5A regional semifinals of the state playoffs where they fell to the eventual state runner-up. Her team capped her junior season with a 25-12 record.
Seagraves averaged 10.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game at Georgetown High School, and was a Academic All-District honoree in 2005. She hit 45.3 percent from three-point range and her 75.8 percent clip from the free-throw line is the fifth-best mark in school history. In the team's first game already this season against Waco Midway, Seagraves was the team's leading scorer with 21 points. She was also an all-district honoree and was an honorable mention all-state player. She was a Second Team All-Centex player as a junior. She also plays club basketball with the Fury basketball program.

A strong student in the classroom, Seagraves was recruited by Ivy league schools like Princeton and Dartmouth, as well as home-state programs like UTA and UT-San Antonio.
Seagraves' mom, Ronda, played college basketball at Ohio State and went on to coach at Allegheny College (PA), Kennesaw College and at Southwestern University. Ronda Seagraves is still at Southwestern, serving as the program's SWA and Associate Director of Athletics, while also chairing the NCAA Women's Basketball Rules Committee. She currently also coaches Shae's Fury basketball team which won the South Texas District Qualifier and advanced to the AAU nationals in the 16U division.
Seagraves joins two other Lady Tiger signees, as Snellville, Georgia's Alex Winchell (South Gwinnett HS), and Wichita, Kansas' Savannah Ellis (Wichita Heights HS) also signed NLI's on Wednesday.
