Arboleda Named C-USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week

MEMPHIS - Memphis distance runner Juan Arboleda was named Male Cross Country Athlete of the Week following his fourth place overall finish at the Arkansas State Sweepstakes the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The meet, which was head-to-head between the two schools, was set in a relay format. Arboleda turned in a combined time of 21:16. He and fellow Tiger Geoff Standen took the second place pairs time running a combined 41:04.
The sophomore has led the Tigers in four out of five meets this season. He recorded a personal best in the men's 8k at the Brooks Memphis Twilight with a time of 27:10.
Arboleda's award is the first for the newly combined Memphis track program under head coach Kevin Robinson and the cross-country program headed by first year assistant Mike Power.
The cross-country team will compete in the C-USA Championships in Greenville, N.C this weekend. Qualifiers form that meet will compete in the NCAA Regional Championships in Knoxville, Tenn.
