Lady Tigers Finish NCAA in 14th Place

Corvallis, OR - The University of Memphis Lady Tiger golf team saw their chances of reaching the NCAA Finals slip away as they turned in a final round team score of 320 and dropped to 14th place at the NCAA West Regional in Corvallis, Oregon. Memphis ended the three day event with a team score of 937, 71 strokes behind West Region champion Arizona..
Arizona increased its 15 stroke lead after the second round to a final margin of 20 strokes, 868, over second place Stanford, 888. Michigan State placed third at 901, with UCLA (903) and Ohio State (906) rounding out the top five. Arizona State, Washington and Southern California also earned a trip to the NCAA Finals in DeLand, Florida.
Natalie Gulbis of Arizona won medalist honors after leading from wire-to-wire. Gulbis carded a one-under par round of 71 on Saturday and completed the tournament with a score of nine under par 207. Memphis's Meaghan Francella shot 77 for the final round and tied for 11th at 222. She was the only Lady Tiger in the top twenty.
