Cross Country Teams Wrap Up Season at NCAA South Regional

Tuscaloosa, Ala.--- - The University of Memphis cross country teams completed their respective fall seasons at the NCAA South Regional at the University of Alabama, Saturday.
The men's team sent two runners to the regional. The Tigers finished in the top 20 in a field of 120 runners. Senior Stefan Matschimer, who was just declared academically-eligible earlier this week, finished 11th with a time of 31:44.22 for the 10,000 meter run. Sophomore Balazs Laszlo, an all-conference performer from the league championships two weeks ago, finished 19th in 32:16.57. The Tigers were second and third among runners not competing with a full team at the regional.
The top two teams from the regional advance to the NCAA Championship at Iowa State, Nov. 18th. Alabama and Conference USA foe South Florida advanced from the South Regional.
The women's cross country team sent three runners to the Regional. Sophomore Leslie Daley led the Lady Tigers with her 110th-place finish. She covered the 6,000 meter course in 24:25.11. Junior Lilly Lebron finished 118th in 25:10.30, while Andrea Dahlman finished 133rd in 26:38.56.
The Tiger and Lady Tiger indoor track season begins in January.
