Steve Metz, a graduate of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, became one of the fabled members of the “M-Squad” at the University of Memphis. Joining with teammates Fred Mangum, Mark Maness and Tim Manus, as well as Gregg Gill, Metz helped lead the Tiger golf team to three tournament championships, including the 1988 Metro Conference Championship. He was named to the All-Metro Conference team in 1988 while posting a 73.1 scoring average. He holds the second lowest competitive round ever played by a Tiger, a 66 in the Billy Hitchcock Invitational at Auburn. He also fired a 67 during competition in the Southern Intercollegiate. Metz has the school for the lowest 36-hole total score with a 137 in the Dixie Intercollegiate and he is ranked second and third for the lowest tournament scores in school history with a 207 (-9) at the Dixie and a 209 (-7) in the Hitchcock. Metz is an account manager with Conwood in Orlando, Florida.
