Roy Moore Sr. *

Roy Moore, Sr. is known as the father of Memphis State golf. He started the men’s program in 1958 and served as the head coach for 10 years. Moore recruited nationwide and is credited with bringing in such noted players as Hillman Robbins, who won the 1958 US Amateur Championship, Lou Graham, who won the 1975 U.S. Open and Mason Rudolph, a Tour professional who was twice a Rider Cup member. In addition, Moore honed the talents of players like Gene Dixon, John Schlee, Buddy McEwen an All-American in 1963, and former PGA of America President Ken Lindsey. Moore’s Tiger teams had two undefeated seasons during his tenure.
