Roland Eveland

Roland Eveland was a two-sport letter winner for Memphis State College in the early 1950s. A native of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, Eveland served as captain of the 1952 football team. He was a standout back for three seasons, as well as a star outfielder for the Tiger baseball team. In 1951, Eveland threw a touchdown pass that beat Louisiana Tech and he added touchdown runs against Southwest Louisiana and Chattanooga. Following graduation Eveland was commissioned in the United State Air Force and served as Provost Marshall at Stewart Air Force Base in New York. After leaving the Air Force he became an educator in West Tennessee and a principal in the Memphis area. Eveland was the principal Whitehaven Junior High School, Havenview Junior High and Treadwell High School during his 38 years in education.
