Richard Coady played football for Billy J. Murphy’s Tiger team from 1964 through 1967. The Chicago, Illinois, native played tight end for the Tigers and during his career was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference team and the Missouri Valley Conference All-Academic team. As a sophomore, Coady caught 14 passes for 246 yards and three scores. His touchdown reception against Utah State in 1965 helped the team to a 7-0 victory over the Aggies. He had 18 pass receptions for 260 yards and one touchdown as a senior and led the team in receiving. He finished his career at Memphis with 39 catches for 582 yards and four scores. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears and played for the NFL team from 1968 through 1974. After retiring from professional football, Coady relocated to Dallas, Texas, and is currently the marketing manager for Casey Motor Controls.
