Cronin, John

John Cronin
- Induction:
- 1994
A native of Chicago, Illinois, John Cronin came to Memphis State University in 1960 and started at offensive center for three consecutive seasons. During the 1961, 1962 and the 1963 undefeated season, Cronin was a regular at center and is called by many as “one of the best blocking centers” in Memphis State history. His teammates called Cronin a consistent leader who used his experience and abilities to guide others. He always achieved blocking assignments against much larger and more well publicized all-America opponents. In 1963, Cronin teamed with offensive linemen Harry Schuh, Bill Scott and Dick Quast to help the Tigers to an undefeated season, just the second in Memphis State history. Following graduation, Cronin moved to Jacksonville, Florida and now owns and operates Cronin and Sons Paint Contractors.
