James Enoch
- Induction:
- 1994
A native of Paris, Tennessee, James Enoch came to West Tennessee Teachers College in the fall of 1938 and immediately became a part of Tiger history as a member of the Tigers’ only undefeated and untied team. Working as an offensive and defensive lineman, Enoch helped his team to a perfect 10-0 record in 1938. With his blocking abilities, he helped open rushing lanes for tailback Skeeter Ellis and enabled the Tigers, then known as the Teachers, to defeat such opponents as Delta State, Troy State, Cumberland College, Arkansas State and Middle Tennessee State. Following graduation, Enoch accepted a coaching position at E.W. Grove High School in Paris (TN) before entering the United States Air Force during World War II. He served with the 8th Air Force for 33 months and earned 13 Battle Stars. Enoch served with the Marshall Space Flight Center and NASA later in his career.
