Frank Magoffin

Frank Magoffin played football for then West Tennessee State Teachers College from 1928-31. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Magoffin earned a starting role in the offensive line as a freshman and worked all season at a guard position. The Tutors, as they were known in the 1920s, finished the season with a 3-3-2 record and set the stage for one of the finest seasons in Memphis football history. In 1929, head coach Zach Curlin and assistant coach Allyn McKeen directed Magoffin and his teammates to an 8-0-2 record and the Mississippi Valley Conference championship. He returned for his junior campaign in 1930 and for the second consecutive season, won the Mississippi Valley Conference title, this time with a record of 6-3-1. The four-year letterman and starter earned a BS degree in Education in 1932 and began a career in health administration. Magoffin would continue to serve his alma mater through out his life. In 1975 he served as the President of Greater Memphis State
