Charlie Babb, who makes his home in Plantation, Florida, came to then Memphis State University in the fall of 1968 from Charleston, Missouri. He started for three years as a defensive back for former head coach Billy J. Murphy and was an All-Missouri Valley Conference selection in 1970 and 1971. He was named to the All-South Team and received All-America honors in 1971. Babb was drafted by the Miami Dolphins and played eight seasons in the NFL. In 1976, Babb was named to the All-NFC team. He played in Super Bowls VII and VIII and participated in 16 career playoff games.
