Bob Swander

Bob Swander was a basketball standout from 1954 through 1958. He played on Bob Vanatta coached teams that compiled a four year record of 76-25 and played in two NCAA Tournaments and one NIT Tournament. After lettering as a freshman and sophomore, Swander had his best season as a junior. Appearing in 30 games, he scored 344 points and averaged 11.4 points per contest. In 1957 earned all tournament honors in the NIT, the All-College Tournament and the Sugar Bowl Tournament. Swander was captain of the team his senior season and was averaging 15.0 points per game through the first 10 contests of the year. However, an injury ended his season after 10 games. He went on to coach basketball until 1969 when he joined the Xerox Corporation.
