Blair Gilbert
- Induction:
- 1997
A graduate of White Station High School in Memphis, Blair Gilbert became one of the most outstanding pitchers in Tiger baseball history. Gilbert came to the U of M in 1977 and immediately earned a spot in the starting rotation. When the final pitch was thrown by Gilbert in 1980, he had amassed 25 career wins, a figure which ranks third in the Memphis baseball record book. His 11 wins in 1978 ranks as the third highest season total and his 199 career strikeouts is the fifth highest in Memphis history. He ranks first in most complete games in a season with eight and is second in career innings pitched with 287.1. Gilbert will long be remembered for his part in the 1978 run to the final game of the NCAA Southeast Regional at Auburn. He was named to the All-Metro Conference Team and the NCAA All-Regional Team that same year. Gilbert went to work for Allegiance Healthcare after graduation and is now the Central Area Manager.
