Three players registered two hits each in series finale

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Memphis softball team fell in the series finale Sunday morning to UCF by a score of 6-2. The Tigers were unable to overcome early scoring by the Knights. Memphis drops to 30-14 on the year and 6-6 in American Athletic Conference play.

UCF put up four runs on three hits in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead over the Tigers. It wasn't until the top of the third inning that Memphis was able to cut the lead in half.

A run in the fourth and in the sixth by UCF built its lead back up to four over the Tigers. Memphis did, however, outhit UCF in the contest, but struggled to plate the runners after getting on base.

Kyler Trosclair Klatt, Ashley Threatt, and Addison Maxwell all registered two hits for the Tigers. Baylee Smith drove in the two runs in the third inning for Memphis while Bayleigh Wisher was handed the loss.

Bottom 1 – A leadoff single scored on a two-run home run to left center. A single and a walk with one out ultimately scored on a defensive miscue by the Tigers. (4 runs, 3 hits, 1 error, 1 left on base)
Top 3 – Erin Parker and Kyler Trosclair Klatt recorded back-to-back singles and scored on a single to left center by Baylee Smith. (2 runs, 4 hits, 0 errors, 2 left on base)
Bottom 4 – UCF scored again after a walk combined with a pair of singles with one out plated one run. (1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 2 left on base)
Bottom 6 – A pair of walks and a single loaded the bases for UCF. An infield single scored the sixth run of the game for the Knights. (1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 3 left on base)

Next Up For The Tigers
Memphis remains on the road for a game at Mississippi State Tuesday night. First pitch in Starkville, Miss. is slated for 6 p.m. and will broadcast on the SEC Network+.
