Memphis earns the No. 5 seed in the upcoming 2017 American Softball Championship
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – With a 7-11 record in American Athletic Conference play, the University of Memphis softball team has earned the No. 5 seed in the 2017 American Softball Championship set to take place at the East Carolina University Softball Stadium May 11-13 in Greenville, N.C.

Memphis, 28-26 overall, will face No. 4-seeded USF in the opening game of the tournament at 10 a.m. CT Thursday morning. Three games will be played on Thursday, including No. 7 UConn vs. No. 2 Houston at 12:30 p.m. CT and No. 3 UCF vs. No. 6 East Carolina at 3 p.m. CT.

The tournament bracket is single elimination that will culminate with the championship game set for 11 a.m. CT Saturday morning, which will be televised on ESPN. The quarterfinals and semifinals will broadcast live on The American Digital Network at www.youtube.com/americanathleticconf.

The Tigers and the Bulls faced off earlier this season in Tampa, Fla. where USF won all three match-ups. Memphis comes into the tournament riding a two-game winning streak after taking two of three over UConn.
