Lindsey Stickrod Named First Team Academic All-District

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis first baseman Lindsey Stickrod has been named to the Academic All-District First Team as announced by CoSIDA Thursday morning. This is the first time in her career she has received the honor and the first time a Memphis player has been named to the First Team since 2011.

Stickrod is the sixth Tiger in program history to earn either first-, second-, or third- Team honors. Janelle Valle was named to the First Team in 2011 where she went on to become the only Academic All-American in school history.

An accounting major, Stickrod will graduate with a 4.0 GPA from the University of Memphis. She has been a member of the squad for two seasons and is a .295 career hitter for the Tigers. This season she has recorded 36 hits with nine extra-base hits in 51 games.

Stickrod is the only softball player in the American Athletic Conference to be named to the Academic All-District team. First-Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
