Tigers Fall In Series Finale To Houston

Softball recognized its four seniors prior to first pitch against the Cougars
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team was unable to overcome early scoring by the Houston Cougars, falling by a score of 8-2 on Senior Day at the Tigers Softball Complex. Memphis falls to 26-25 on the year and 5-10 in American Athletic Conference play.

The Cougars scored two in the first and one in the third to take an early 3-0 lead over the Tigers. Memphis got one back, however, in the third on an RBI single over the third baseman by Kyler Trosclair to drive in Addison Maxwell.

An untimely triple by Houston in the fourth combined with a Tiger error resulted in three more runs crossing the plate. The Tigers earned one run back in the seventh after back-to-back doubles by Regan Hadley and Lindsey Stickrod, but a strikeout went on to end the contest.

Katie Brignac came in relief for Christian Novak after three and a third. Novak was handed the loss after allowing six runs to score.

- Hannah Harrell drew a walk and recorded a sacrifice bunt for the Tigers.

- Top 1 – With two outs, Houston put together a pair of singles and a double to score two runs. (2 runs, 3 hits, 1 error, 2 left on base)
- Top 3 – Savannah Heebner led the inning of with a drawn walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. A single by Sarah Queen drove in Heebner as Houston took a 3-0 lead. (1 run, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left on base)
- Bottom 3 – Brooke Lee led the inning off with a single down the right field line, which marked the first Tiger hit of the game. A single bouncing over the third baseman by Kyler Trosclair drove in Maxwell for the first Tiger run of the game. (1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 0 left on base)
- Top 4 – A pair of singles led off the inning for Houston. With one out, the Cougars tripled to clear the bases. A throwing error brought the runner home on the same play. (3 runs, 3 hits, 1 errors, 0 left on base)
- Top 7 – A single with one out put the first runner on base. That base runner advanced to third on a fielder's choice and a throwing error and scored on a single to centerfield. (2 runs, 2 hits, 1 error, 0 left on base)
- Bottom 7 – Regan Hadley and Lindsey Stickrod both doubled, which resulted in one run scoring. (1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 1 left on base)
