Softball's Rally Falls Short In 4-2 Setback To USF
Apr 23, 2017 | Softball
Tigers unable to overcome four run first inning by the Bulls
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Memphis softball team will return home this week with hopes of regrouping after dropping the series to USF this weekend. USF completed the sweep Sunday by dealing Memphis a 4-2 setback, dropping the Tigers to 23-23 overall and 4-8 in American Athletic Conference play.
Â
An untimely error to lead off the game ultimately resulted in four runs scoring for the Bulls. Memphis scored one in the second and one in the fifth, but the damage done by USF in the first proved to be too much to overcome.
Â
The Tigers did rally for two hits in the third, but both came with two outs before a strikeout ended the inning.
