Sophomore led Memphis with a 9-for-16 effort at the plate this week
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis infielder Tyler Johnson has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in her career after leading Memphis with a .562 average this past week. Â
Â
Johnson hit two home runs this week including one in the 10-2 run-rule victory over UCF Friday evening. She also recorded a double and finished the week with nine hits which has resulted in a season-high five game hitting streak. Three of the five games this week resulted in multi-hit games for Johnson.
Â
She also added five runs this week for the Tigers and after coming in as a pinch hitter in game one against UT Martin, she earned a spot back in the lineup for Memphis. Her batting average was raised 33 points after her efforts this weekend.
Memphis now travels down to Oxford, Miss. for a single game match-up against SEC foe Ole Miss. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. For more information on the University of Memphis softball team, follow the Tigers on Facebook and Twitter at @MemphisSoftball.
