ECU Takes Series Finale Away From Memphis

Tigers held to just two hits in setback
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team was unable to overcome the early scoring by East Carolina as the Tigers fell 4-0 Sunday afternoon. Memphis falls to 17-13 on the year and 2-1 in American Athletic Conference play.

The Pirates put runs up in the first, third, fifth, and sixth while holding the Tigers hitless until the bottom of the fourth inning. The Memphis pitching staff held East Carolina to just five hits, but four of those hits came in timely situations.

Memphis had an opportunity in the bottom of the sixth with runners on first and third, but was unable to claw away at the ECU lead. Molly Smith was dealt her sixth loss of the season.

Next Up For The Tigers
Memphis remains at home for a pair of midweeks this week before hitting the road to take on Tulsa on Friday. Tuesday, the Tigers will host Central Arkansas and on Wednesday, Austin Peay comes to town. First pitch on Tuesday is set for 5 p.m. at the Tigers Softball Complex. - Lindsey Stickrod broke up the ECU no-hitter in the fourth inning.
- Kyler Trosclair extended her hitting streak to 13 games with a single in the sixth, which matches the longest hitting streak of the season (Lindsay Crowdus – 13 games).
- Crowdus extended her on base streak to 19 straight games with a walk in the sixth.
- For the weekend ECU was allowed just 14 hits.

- Top 5 – A solo home run to right center put ECU 3-0 over Memphis. (1 run, 1 hit, 0 errors, 0 left on base)
- Top 6 – With the bases loaded, ECU singled through the left side. (1 run, 1 hit, 0 errors, 3 left on base)
