Softball Defeats ECU Saturday; Looks To Sweep Sunday

Tigers improve to 2-0 in conference play with win over East Carolina

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team will look to sweep East Carolina Sunday after defeating the Pirates by a score of 5-1 Saturday afternoon. Memphis took the lead early in the first and never trailed as the Tigers improve to 17-12 on the year and 2-0 in American Athletic Conference play.

Kyler Trosclair led the game off with a triple down the left field line to set the tone for the contest. She scored on a single by Lindsay Crowdus to give Memphis the early lead.

The Tigers added two in the third before East Carolina snagged a run back in the fifth. The Pirates were held scoreless for the remainder of the contest while Memphis added one in the fifth and the sixth.

Christian Novak pitched a complete game for the Tigers, allowing just five hits while striking out five. It was her fifth complete game of the season.

Notables

Kyler Trosclair extended her hitting streak to a team-high 12 games with a leadoff triple in the first inning.
Lindsay Crowdus has now reached base 18 straight games with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate.
Regan Hadley has back-to-back multi hit games after going 2-for-3 on Saturday.
The Tigers registered 12 hits as a team and finished the day with two stolen bases.
Erin Parker also recorded a multi-hit game for the third time this season.
Xiomara Santiago has recorded a hit in back-to-back games as a pinch hitter. Today it was a double that scored Lindsay Crowdus.

Bottom 1 – Kyler Trosclair tripled to leadoff the game and she scored on a sacrifice fly by Lindsay Crowdus. (1 run, 1 hit, 0 errors, 0 left on base)
Bottom 3 – Crowdus doubled to left field with Addison Maxwell on first. Those two Tigers scored on a single up the middle by Lindsey Stickrod. (2 runs, 3 hits, 0 errors, 1 left on base)
Top 5 – A double combined with a single to right center led to a run scoring. (1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 1 left on base)
Bottom 5 – Crowdus led the inning off with bunt single to third. She scored on a pinch hit double by Xiomara Santiago. (1 runs, 3 hits, 0 errors, 1 left on base)
Bottom 6 – Erin Parker led the inning off with a single to the shortstop. She scored on a double by Trosclair. (1 run, 3 hits, 0 errors, 2 left on base)
