Regan Hadley goes 4-for-4; Tigers total 12 hits in the win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team cruised to an 8-2 victory over East Carolina to open up American Athletic Conference. The Tigers combined for 12 hits including four from Regan Hadley and three from Lindsay Crowdus to improve to 16-12 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

East Carolina struck first in the top of the first, but Memphis quickly answered in the bottom half of the inning. The game remained close through three and a half before the Memphis bats came alive.

Seven hits in the final three innings for Memphis led to six runs including a pair of triples by Hadley and Crowdus. Molly Smith notched her sixth victory of the season as she pitched a complete game for Memphis.

Notables

Kyler Trosclair extended her hitting streak to a team-high 11 games with a single through the left side in the first.
Lindsay Crowdus has now reached base in 17 straight games to lead Memphis.
Trosclair, with two stolen bases, is just one stolen base shy of matching the program record for a career.
Hannah Harrell is just one stolen base shy of matching the program record for a career.
Regan Hadley was just a home run away from the cycle and finished the day going a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate.
Crowdus hit her team-leading seventh triple of the season.
Molly Smith allowed just one earned run in 7.0 innings pitched.
Xiomara Santiago recorded her first collegiate hit as a pinch hitter in the fifth inning.
The Tigers recorded their first two sacrifice flies of the season against East Carolina.

Top 1 – East Carolina scored on a single through the left side after the base runner reached on a single and advanced on a dropped fly ball. (1 run, 2 hits, 1 error, 2 left on base)
Bottom 1 – Kyler Trosclair singled through the left side to leadoff the game. She advanced on a stolen base and a pair of singles by Regan Hadley and Lindsay Crowdus. (1 run, 3 hits, 0 errors, 3 left on base)
Bottom 3 – Lindsay Crowdus singled to leadoff the inning and scored on a double over the head of the centerfielder by Regan Hadley. (1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 1 left on base)
Top 4 – The leadoff batter walked and advanced all the way around the diamond after a pair of groundouts and a bloop single to shallow right field. (1 run, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left on base)

Bottom 5 – Regan Hadley tripled to centerfield to leadoff the inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Rebeca Melton. A walk drawn by Brooke Lee and a single through the left side put runners on first and second for Kyler Trosclair. Trosclair doubled down the left field line to score Lee.
