Softball Adds Two More to Early Signing Period Class

Madalyn Alexander and Samantha Ibison join five who have signed during the early period
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis softball head coach Natalie Poole has announced the addition of two more players during the early signing period in Madalyn Alexander and Samantha Ibison. Alexander and Ibison join five welcomed Tigers who were announced late last week.

Madalyn Alexander
5-10 | Pitcher
Longview, Texas | Longview HS

Hailing from Longview, Texas, Alexander brings the Tigers a pitcher that is very capable of getting strikeouts. A letterman for her high school, she struck out 304 batters in the past season, pitching in 168.1 innings. For the season, she also boasted a 1.91 ERA.
Â
The highlight of her high school career came in a game against Queen City, in which Alexander struck out 20 hitters, while only allowing two hits in the shutout effort. In her time at Longview High, she has fanned 621 batters over 369 innings, while allowing a 2.11 ERA. She owns the record for most strikeouts in a career for her high school.

Alexander played her club ball for NTX Blaze, having a club career that stretched over nine years. She pitched 539 innings for her team, striking out 750 opponents. In her last season, she struck out 132 in 89 innings, helping her team to a 27-10-2 record.

"Madalyn has had exceptional success on the mound. Her strikeouts per inning stand out. She has good movement, which will help her excel at this level."

Samantha Ibison
5-10 | Shortstop
Tulsa, Okla. | Union High School

Ibison joins the Tigers from Union High School after being a letterwinner every year in high school. Last season, she had a .466 overall batting average, with a .561 batting average with runners in scoring position. She helped lead her team to a 27-14 record.

As a senior, Ibison was named the 2017 All-District Defensive Player of the Year, All-Region at shortstop and First-Team, Large-East All-State middle infielder.

In her club career, she played for the Revolution from 2007-13, and the Tulsa Elite Jacks '00 from 2014-18. During her time with the Jacks, Ibison helped the team win the 2016 Hustle City Invite Championship and the 2017 Boulder IDT Championship.

"Sam has experience both at shortstop and the outfield. She has great range and a great arm. She plays the game with a fluidness that is a pleasure to watch."
