Softball Drops Two at LSU Tourney

Tigers fall two Louisiana Tech and #5 LSU on day one.
MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis softball team (6-12) dropped a pair of games on the first day of the LSU tournament, Friday. Memphis lost to Louisiana Tech (10-3), 9-3, then lost to No. 5 ranked LSU, 17-2.
Junior outfielder Hannah Harrell led Memphis against Louisiana Tech, going 2-for-3.
Molly Smith took the loss for Memphis, pitching all but 15 pitches. She allowed six runs, all earned, walking six and striking out five. Freshman Bayleigh Wisher stepped in to face four batters, allowing one hit that scored three runs, all earned.
The Tigers led 1-0 at the bottom of the first, but found themselves tied at 2-all at the end of the second. Louisiana Tech added runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings for the final 9-3 score. Baile Allen got the win for Louisiana Tech, giving up three runs, two earned in four innings of work.
Against No. 5 ranked LSU, Memphis got two hits, both for RBIs in a 17-2 loss to the home team.
Memphis will close the tournament with a pair of games on Saturday, facing Liberty and Tennessee Tech.
