Regan Hadley Signs NLI With Memphis Softball

Will join the Memphis roster in January.
MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis softball team announced the first of what is expected to be a six-person signing class on Wednesday as catcher Regan Hadley from Georgetown, Indiana, inked an NLI with the Tigers. Hadley will graduate from Floyd Central High School in December and will actually join the Memphis roster in January of 2016 for her freshman season.
"We had a couple of students contact us this summer about graduating early and coming in at mid-term, which was odd in that they weren't communicating with one another," Head Coach Natalie Poole said. "I've never been in that situation before, so I thought about it for a few days before responding with an answer. From a pitching-catching perspective, you can always use help. I told them they needed to meet the NCAA eligibility requirements and also be able to accomplish all of their coursework to graduate from high school, so they got the approvals that they needed to graduate early and really evaluated the situation to see if it was what they wanted to do. I'm excited to say they will come in fully ready to compete in the spring time."
A three-year letterwinner at Floyd Central High School, Hadley helped her prep team both sectional and regional championships in 2014 and 2015 as a sophomore and junior, missing state by one game last season. The catcher/third baseman was a two-time all-conference honoree and was named all-area last season. She also played volleyball at Floyd Central.
"Regan plays with a great sense of maturity, and that was important," Poole said. "I needed to see that level of maturity and I needed to see that they (players who were talking about graduating early) knew how to handle themselves physically, intellectually, and emotionally. I think Regan is going to be an immediate impact behind the plate. She leads well, she receives well and she's got a great arm."
In the prep off-season, Hadley played club ball with the Louisville Lady Sluggers for coach Don Dobina.
The daughter of Todd and Denise Hadley, Regan is a member of the honor roll and will graduate from high school next month.
She will join a Memphis roster in January that already features five freshmen, nine sophomores and eight juniors. The Tigers will open their spring season at the Florida Gulf Coast tournament, Feb. 12-14th. There, Memphis will face Kent State, Illinois-Chicago, Middle Tennessee, Michigan State and host Florida Gulf Coast. Memphis will also compete in non-conference tournaments at Arizona State, in Gulfport, Miss., at LSU and at Coastal Carolina.
