VanBrakle Prothro Rounds Out 2023 Roster with Addition of Berner

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Head softball coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro has added one last addition to her 2023 in Madison Berner. She will join the team this spring.
Berner, a 5-6 outfielder from Clarksville, Tenn., comes to Memphis after playing one year at Dyersburg State where she was named as the Tennessee Junior College Player of the Year and was a First Team All-American selection during the 2022 season. Berner would go on to bat .534 with 19 homeruns during her time with the Eagles.
"I'm so excited to start this new journey as a Memphis Tiger," said Berner. "It's been a dream of mine to compete at the is level and I can't wait to be a part of the Memphis Tiger family this spring!"
A prep prospect out of Clarksville High School, Berner was named as the District Player of the Year and was part of the district's All Decade Team while being named to their First Team. She was also an ESPN Clarksville Player of the Week and was named to play in the Tennessee All-Star Game against Kentucky.
"We are excited to add Maddie and her family join the Memphis softball family," said VanBrakle Prothro. "She brings some experience and pop in her bat onto the team and will fill in some holes for us moving into the spring."
