Sohn in Year End Regional Singles Rankings

Sophomore ranked 17th in Ohio Valley region.
MEMPHIS – Sophomore women's tennis player Hanna Sohn ended the season in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)'s Ohio Valley regional rankings. The sophomore, who transferred to Memphis from the University of Arizona prior to the 2015-16 season, capped her season as the number 17 ranked singles player in the region.
Sohn, a native of Koln, Germany, came to Memphis and started the year looking like the Lady Tigers' number two singles player, behind all-conference returnee Anki Wind. But an injury suffered by Wind in the early part of the spring cost Sohn her doubles partner (Wind) and moved her to the top of the Memphis lineup in her first season in the blue and gray.
Sohn responded in style though, posting a 5-8 overall record at number one singles and finishing the year with an 11-12 overall record. Sohn also made a mark in doubles play, teaming with freshman Janina Berres to go 5-7 at one doubles.
Sohn will be of five returnees for head coach Hayden Perez, who heads in to his third season in 2016-17. Sohn should have teammate Wind back and will have Berres, Marta Morgan, and Gabrielle Paul also back in the lineup. Memphis added twins Josephine and Katherine Cao from Lenexa, Kansas, to the lineup for next season.
The University of Memphis will resume fall classes on Monday, August 22nd.
