ESPN Announces 2018 Football Season Bowl Dates

American has seven primary bowl tie-ins for 2018
MEMPHIS – On Wednesday, ESPN announced the dates and times for bowl games for the upcoming 2018 football season. The American Athletic Conference has bowl affiliations with seven different bowls for 2018 and has secondary affiliations with a pair of games should those leagues not fill their respective slots.
The list of American Bowl Affiliates for the upcoming season and their respective dates, times and television partners are below:
2018 American Bowl Affiliations
December 15 -- AutoNation Cure Bowl (vs Sun Belt), 1:30 pm CT, TV TBA
December 18 -- Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl (vs C-USA), 6 pm CT, ESPN
December 19 -- Frisco Bowl (vs TBA), 7 pm CT, ESPN
December 20 -- Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl (vs TBA), 7 pm CT, ESPN
December 22 -- Birmingham Bowl (vs SEC), 11 am CT, ESPN
December 22 -- Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl (vs Big 12), 2:30 pm CT, ESPN
December 31 -- Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumann (vs ACC), 12:30 pm CT, ESPN
Secondary Agreements
December 27 -- Walk-On's Independence Bowl – 12:30 pm CT, ESPN
December 31 -- AutoZone Liberty Bowl, 2:45 pm CT, ESPN
Bowl possibilities for the AAC champions this year are Playstation Fiesta Bowl (Jan. 1, Noon CT, ESPN) or the Chick-Fil-A-Peach Bowl (Dec. 29, 11 am, ESPN).
Memphis is coming off a school-record fourth consecutive bowl appearance and will open its 2018 season at home on September 1 against Mercer. That is the first of seven home games for the Tigers this season.
The Tigers, who are 18-8 in Mike Norvell's first two seasons are the defending West Division Champs of the American Athletic Conference, and will have an early challenge to defending their West Division crown with a week two matchup at division foe Navy on tap following week at Navy, Sept. 8th.
