Track And Field/Cross Country Announces Signees

Tigers add nine distance runners to the 2018 class.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis track and field/cross country head coach Kevin Robinson announced the Tigers' 2018 spring signees Wednesday. Memphis signed nine distance runners in the spring signing period. Ken Frenette serves as Robinson's assistant coach for cross country/distance.
The nine signees are: Jessie Boyett, Christian Corsello, Emmanuel Cullins, Lucas Finton, Brendan Hill, Solstice Saliba, Avery Wood, Tate Wyatt and Zachary Wyatt. Four of signees are Memphis-area products in Boyette (Arlington High School), Cullins (Whitehaven High School), Hill (Bartlett High School) and Wood (Bartlett High School).

Jessie Boyett
Arlington, Tenn./Arlington High School
- Placed 14th in the boys 800m at the 2018 Mississippi High School Invitational held at Ole Miss
- Ran a personal-best 2:11.58 in the 800m; also a school season-best
- Posted a personal-best 10:21.69 in the 3200m this spring
- Placed 98th at the 2016 Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Class AAA Cross Country Championships
- Helped lead Arlington High School to a 13th-place team finish at the state race
- Also ran in the 2015 TSSAA Class AAA state race
- Helped Arlington to an eighth-place finish that season
Christian Corsello
Lilburn, Ga./Parkview High School
- Earned Daily Post All-County first team honors as a senior
- Also named to the All-Gwinett County team by the county's coaches three years (2015-17)
- Placed 12th at the state race, second at area championships and sixth at county race his senior season
- Earned Daily Post All-County first team honors his junior season
- Placed 13th at the state race, second at area championships and sixth at county race his junior campaign
- Named to the 2016 Atlanta Track Club All-Metro Team for cross country
- Also earned 2017 All-Metro honors for track and field as a member of the 4x400 meter relay
- All-Area 4-AAAAAAA for cross country in 2016 and 2017
- 2017 Daily Post Super Six selection
Emmanuel Cullins
Memphis, Tenn./Whitehaven High School
- Member of the 2016 Whitehaven High School team that won its first city championship in program history
- Led the Tigers to the city title with a first-place finish
- Named MVP of the city championship
- Led Whitehaven to a second-straight city title in 2017
- Top finisher in the city championships race
- Placed 45th at the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Division I Large School championships race
- Won 2016 Shelby County Interscholastic Athletic Association (SCIAA) Class 3A title in the 1600m
- 2017 Commercial Appeal All-Metro in track and field
Lucas Finton
Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc High School
- Posted top-five times for the Bobcats in both the 1600- and 3200-meters in 2018 outdoor season
- Earned 2016 all-county first team accolades in cross country
- Named 2016 Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) All-Academic for cross country
- Received 2016 Academic All-State distinction in cross country
- Helped lead Grand Blanc High School to a sectional title and a third-place regional finish in the 2016 cross country campaign
- Finished 35th at KLAA conference race
- Placed 24th at the regional meet
- Member of the 2016 Bobcats squad that advanced to Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) state championships race
Brendan Hill
Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett High School
- Helped Bartlett to the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Region 8 title and a fourth-place finish at the TSSAA Class 3A state championships
- The fourth-place team finish was the best by a Memphis-area team since 2011
- Placed sixth in the regional race and 32nd in the state championships
- Named to the Commercial Appeal All-Metro Team as a senior
- As a junior, helped lead the Panthers to the TSSAA Region 7 crown and a fifth-place showing at the state race
- Placed 55th in the state championships
- Named to the Commercial Appeal All-Metro Team as a junior
Solstice Saliba
Ajax, Ontario/Ajax High School
- Placed 44th in the women's junior division of 2017 Canadian Cross Country Championships (Greater Uxbridge Road Runners)
- Finished ninth in the youth girls race at the 2016 Athletics Canada National Cross Country Championships
- Helped Team Ontario to the team crown at the championships
- Finished ninth at the 2016 Canadian Nation Cross Country Championships
- Placed eighth in the 2016 Athletics Ontario Cross Country Championships (Durham Dragon Athletics)
- As a member of Durham Dragons Athletics, placed 20th in the youth girls division of the 2015 Canadian Cross Country Championships
- Placed 10th in the women's 3000m at the 2016 Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Championships Windsor
- Finished ninth in the girls 800m at the 2013 International Youth Meet of Champions
Avery Wood
Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett High School
- Helped Bartlett to the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Region 8 title and a fourth-place finish at the TSSAA Class 3A state championships
- The fourth-place team finish was the best by a Memphis-area team since 2011
- Placed fifth in the regional race and 30th in the state championships
- As a junior, helped lead the Panthers to the TSSAA Region 7 crown and a fifth-place showing at the state race; region title first since 2002
- Placed 27th in the state race
- Named to the Commercial Appeal All-Metro Team as a junior
- Also named a Commercial Appeal Sports Awards semifinalist for boys cross country
Tate Wyatt
Langley, British Columbia/R.E. Mountain Secondary School
- Accepted into the University of Memphis' Helin Hardin Honors College
- Placed second – by a second behind his brother Zachary – at the British Columbia High School Cross Country Championships in November of 2017
- Led the Eagles to the 2017 British Columbia provincial cross country/senior boys division crown
- Earned silver in the 2000m steeplechase at the Royal Canadian Legion Championships in August of 2017
- Won bronze in the 2000m steeplechase at the 2017 British Columbia High School Track and Field Championships last June
- Member of the R.E. Mountain squad that placed third at the British Columbia High School Cross Country Championships /Senior Boys Division
- Won bronze in the 1500m steeplechase at the 2016 British Columbia High School Track and Field Championships
- Helped lead R.E. Mountain High School to the 2016 provincial championship
- Also trained with the Langley Mustangs Track and Field Club
Zachary Wyatt
Langley, British Columbia/R.E. Mountain Secondary School
