Tigers sophomore wins bronze in the event.
CINCINNATI, Ohio – University of Memphis' Mona Jaidi improved her own school record in the women's hammer to lead the Tigers' effort in first-day action at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships Friday.
Action at the conference meet, which is being held at the University of Cincinnati's Gettler Stadium, continues Saturday.
It is the third time this season Jaidi set the school record in the hammer throw. She first set the hammer school record at the Mar. 30 Joey Haines Invitational with her 189-0 (57.60m) throw. She broke an 11-year-old school record at that time. At the Memphis Invitational Apr. 27, Jaidi surpassed her previous-best throw by nearly four feet with a 192-11 (58.80m) effort. On Friday, she edged past that mark with a 192-11 (58.81m) throw.Â
