Last season Memphis swept the series over Ole Miss, while the Rebels swept the Tigers in 2016. Memphis has a 7-6 advantage in the series with Ole Miss since 2012.
Ole Miss is currently ranked in the Top 10 of every major poll and the Rebels are one of just two teams in the nation with 25 wins.
Wednesday's game is the fifth-consecutive for Memphis against a ranked opponent. The Tigers are 1-5 against ranked teams this season after picking the 9-0 shutout of No. 25 UCF.
Memphis is 0-4 this season against SEC teams. The Tigers have won at least one game against an SEC team each year since 2010. Memphis hosts Mississippi State April 18 at AutoZone Park in its final scheduled game against an SEC team this year.

The Tigers lost another close game, falling 8-7 to No. 5 Arkansas last week at AutoZone Park. The narrow defeat was the 14th game that Memphis has lost by three runs or less this season. Memphis has five two-run losses and five one-run losses.
Memphis has been unable to get a winning streak started so far this season, winning back-to-back games only twice this season. This is the first time since 2005 that the Tigers have failed to win at least three-straight games during the first seven weeks of the season. The 2005 team went the entire season without a winning streak.
The Tigers will head back on the road this weekend for a three-game conference series at Cincinnati. Last season at Marge Schott Stadium, Memphis recorded its first series win over the Bearcats since 2004.
