Tigers post 13th straight victory

DALLAS, Texas – Capturing its 13th straight victory, the No. 18 Memphis men's tennis team advanced to the semifinal round of the American Athletic Conference Championships after defeating No. 8-seeded Temple, 4-1, on Friday morning.
The Tigers (18-4, 5-0) scored an early advantage by taking the doubles point for the fifth straight contest. Duo Kai Lemke and Felix Rauch began the day with a 6-3 win on court 2. The nation's No. 38 tandem Ryan Peniston and Andrew Watson then took the top spot for a 1-0 match lead.
In singles play, Peniston rolled the momentum into a straight-set win, while Lemke claimed his 10th consecutive singles victory to push the lead to 3-0.
Temple (13-10, 1-2) claimed its lone point of the day in a three-set thriller on court 6. Tiger junior Chris Patzanovsky then went the distance to clinch the match for Memphis behind a 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 triumph.
The Tigers will meet fifth-seeded USF, who defeated Wichita State in quarterfinal action, at noon on Saturday. Although Memphis trails 10-5 in the all-time series, the Tigers tallied a 4-0 shutout against USF earlier this season.
