Women’s Golf Tied for Third Following First Round

MEMPHIS –With all five golfers in the top 20 at the end of day one at The American Championships, the Memphis women's golf team is tied for third, just five strokes behind Houston and three behind UCF.

Memphis carded a day one 296 (+8). Senior Emily Goldenstein's opening round 71 (-1) has her tied for fourth in the standings, while Madison Thomas is just two strokes back with a day one 73 (+1) and is tied for seventh.

The remaining three Tiger golfers, Sydney Colwill, Abby Herrmann and Michaela Fletcher, carded opening round 76s (+4) and are tied for 20^thoverall.

East Carolina's Kathryn Carson leads the individual standings following an opening round 69. One stroke back are Leonie Harm of Houston and Taryn Torgerson of Wichita State, followed by Goldenstein and Kaeli Jones of UCF.

Monday tee times for Memphis will begin at 10 a.m. Memphis will be paired with players from East Carolina. Live scoring for the event will be available at www.golfstats.com.
