Tigers down WKU on Senior Day

Memphis ends regular season 7-0 at home
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis women's tennis sent its seniors out on a high note with a 6-1 victory against WKU on Saturday afternoon at the Racquet Club of Memphis.
With the win, the Tigers extended their streak to seven matches, which is the most in the Hayden Perez era. Memphis also finished the season 7-0 at home.
Memphis (15-7, 3-3) honored its seniors Anki Wind and Hanna Sohn. Both delivered with wins to guide the Tigers to victory.
In doubles, Tiger duo Anki Wind and Katherine Cao were first off the court with a 6-0 sweep. Tandem Alisha Reayer and Laura Bente followed with a 6-4 victory to give Memphis an early 1-0 lead.
In singles play, the Tigers boasted their depth once more. Freshman Alisha Reayer was first off the court in straight-sets to push the Tiger lead to 2-0.
Despite dropping a match at the top spot, Memphis answered when freshman Lina Hohnhold scored a straight-set victory at the No. 6 position. Sohn then rallied to force a third set on court 2, where she broke serve for the match and clinched the victory for Memphis.
Freshman Laura Bente also went the distance on court 3, where she took the final two frames for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory. Capping the scoring for the Tigers, sophomore Katherine Cao notched her 11th consecutive win and set the 6-1 final.
The Tigers will now turn their attention to the American Athletic Conference Championships, which begin Wednesday. Hosted by SMU in Dallas, tournament seedings will be finalized Sunday evening.
