DeMoss, Zitting Win Events At Joe Walker Invitational Friday

McMiller sets personal-best in women's hammer throw.
OXFORD, Miss. – University of Memphis' Davon DeMoss and Arnica Zitting posted first-place finishes in the men's 200 meters and women's 5000 meters, respectively, to lead the Tigers' effort in first-day action at Ole Miss' Joe Walker Invitational.
For DeMoss, the win was his first of the season in the men's 200 meters. He had two top-three performances earlier this campaign. Zitting won the women's 5000 meters by nearly 23 seconds better than the second-place finisher. The 5000-meters title was Zitting's first of her career.

- DeeNia McMiller threw a personal-best in the women's hammer. Her mark beat her previous-best by a foot. McMiller's throw also was just five inches shy of tying the school record set by teammate Mona Jaidi two weeks ago.
- Ashley Peterson improved her personal-best in the women's 5000 meters by nearly 20 seconds.
- Other personal-bests were Matthew Viveiros in the men's 1500 meters, Mary Betsy Minkler in the women's 1500 meters, and Mari-Liis Tulev in the women's javelin.
- Jordan Shackleford posted a season-best mark in the women's long jump.
